Overview

BLK Hospital was founded as a charitable in 1930, by Dr. B L Kapur, an eminent Obstetrician and Gynaecologis. And in 1947, DR. Kapur progressed to post-partition India and established a Maternity Hospital at Ludhiana. In 1956 on the invite of the then Prime Minister, Dr. B L Kapur started the scheme for setting up a 200 bed hospital in Delhi. The hospital was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 2nd January, 1959.

The hospital celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1984, emerging on its way to becoming Delhi’s foremost multispecialty institution. Services accessible in the hospital included General Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dentistry, Pulmonology, Intensive Care and Orthopedics, apart from mother & child care.

BLK hospital emphasized on the importance of the community’s health, Passionate doctors held camps and public health talks to progress the status of community health in the area.

In the late 1990s, the Trustees of the hospital decided to improve BLK to a tertiary care hospital and collaborated with Radiant Life Care Private Limited to re-develop and manage the facility. Currently, a modern high-tech tertiary care hospital has been set up in place of the old hospital. It is one of the largest individual private Hospitals in the National Capital Region today.

BLK Super Specialist Hospital is the biggest individual private sector hospital in Delhi. Radiant Life Care Private Limited currently oversees BLK Super Specialty Hospital. Prior to taking over management of the Hospital, Radiant Life Care was in charge of financing and re-developing the Erstwhile general hospital recognized mainly for mother & child care services and establishing in its place, an ultra-modern and one of India's most comprehensive tertiary care Hospitals.
