Gastric balloon surgery is a minimally invasive weight loss procedure designed to help individuals lose weight by reducing the amount of food the stomach can hold. The procedure involves placing a deflated silicone balloon into the stomach, which is then inflated with saline solution to occupy space and create a feeling of fullness. Here's a protocol overview:

You will start by a consultation with a bariatric surgeon or a healthcare provider specializing in weight loss procedures. It can be done online and what the surgeon needs is your body mass index rate, if you have comorbidities and of course, your medical history.

 Gastric balloon placement is typically performed under sedation or general anesthesia. The surgeon inserts an endoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera) through the mouth and into the stomach to visualize the stomach's interior.Once the endoscope is in place, the deflated silicone balloon is inserted into the stomach through the esophagus. Once the balloon is properly positioned in the stomach, it is inflated with a sterile saline solution. The volume of the balloon may vary depending on the type of balloon used and the patient's anatomy.
   
The gastric balloon is typically removed after six months or one year. The removal procedure is similar to the insertion procedure and is usually performed endoscopically under sedation or general anesthesia.

Gastric balloon surgery is less invasive than traditional weight loss surgeries like gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, as it does not involve cutting or stapling of the stomach.
