Lipofilling, also known as fat grafting or fat transfer, is a cosmetic procedure performed to enhance volume in specific areas of the body by transferring fat from one area to another.

Your plastic surgeon will perform  a physical examination of the areas to be treated and assesses in general the patient's overall health, medical history, and suitability for lipofilling.  

Lipofilling begins with the harvesting of fat from donor areas of the body using a minimally invasive liposuction technique. The surgeon makes small incisions in the donor site(s) and inserts a thin, hollow tube called a cannula to suction out excess fat. Common donor sites for lipofilling include the abdomen, thighs, hips, and flanks.

The harvested fat is processed and purified to remove blood, oil, and other contaminants before it is injected into the recipient areas. This may involve centrifugation or filtration techniques to concentrate the fat and improve its viability for grafting.

Once the fat is processed, the surgeon injects it into the targeted areas of the body using small cannulas or syringes. The fat is injected in multiple layers and deposits to achieve the desired volume and contour enhancement. The surgeon carefully evaluates the symmetry and proportion of the treated areas during the injection process.
